Lets imagine for a minute...
You've just moved to a new and exciting city known as San Antonio. You can't get a job, despite your best efforts. You don't have any friends to play with, except for the one's that went to Paris and left you behind to hang out in their house and talk to their dog. And to top it all off, your dear friend far away who you talk to for support on the phone everyday goes off into the wilderness for three months (how's that for a shout out, Julie?)
What the HELL do you do with all that free time? Volunteer at the orphanage? Find a cure for cancer? Pick up where you left off on writing your memoirs?
I'm afraid not. For you see, one who happened to find himself in said predicament was none other than yours truly. I regret to inform that I wish I had used that time just a little more productively. Instead I spent far too much time tucked away in Stephanie and Patrick's house (while they were practicing their French) surfing THE INTERNET. And when I did go out, it was usually to an INTERNET Cafe. What a pathetic and bland excuse for a loser I had become.
Well, be glad I did, because I encountered something wonderful! Yes, really. On the internet of all places.
What I found was an obscure little weblog run by two Atlanta housewives. Its called Threadbared. I don't want to spoil too much of the fun for you, but what Mary and Kimberly of Threadbared do a couple times a week is write a post featuring a vintage fabric pattern packaging photo that they COMPLETELY MAKE FUN OF with their trenchant humor. I know what you're thinking, but it puts me in complete stitches. Undoubtedly, it could brighten up the sourest of moods.
Here are a few of my favorite Threadbared samplings:
What I am really looking forward to is this news that M & K recently revealed to their fans. Threadbared has been opted for a coffee table-type book! It will be published for fall 2006. Don't everybody get me a copy. Just one of you.
